Mission

The Mackinac Center for Public Policy is a nonpartisan research and educational institute dedicated to advancing sound public policies that improve the quality of life for all people. We provide objective analysis of the challenges facing Michigan in education, labor, fiscal affairs, the environment, and criminal justice so that citizens, lawmakers, business owners, media and scholars can better evaluate policy choices. Our research and commentary broaden public debate by rejecting the premise that government is the solution to all problems and advancing the benefits of limited government, free enterprise, private property rights and the rule of law. Committed to its independence, the Mackinac Center neither seeks nor accepts any government funding.
