Mission
The Cancer Association, organized in 1967 as an all volunteer agency providing services to indigent cancer victims, changed its focus in 1970 to "provide services to all cancer victims in need" rather than just the indigent. Cancer is non-exclusive with respect to race, sex, age, religion or financial situation and can devastate a family financially as well as emotionally. The other focus of the Cancer Association is to educate the community on the risks of developing cancer and the simple lifestyle changes that can be made to greatly reduce those risks.
